There are loads of free events Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday for those who may be staying around Vancouver for an extra day, and gigs all over town every evening. All venues are convenient to public transit, and in walking distance once downtown (a 20 minute bus ride from UBC).

Of note for educators might be the High School Jazz Intensive session at Tom Lee Music downtown at 1pm on Saturday, but many other free events all day long. On Saturday evening, John Korsrud’s Jazz Orchestra is only $12 admission at the Roundhouse and features many local music teachers in the band. Pat’s Pub and Brewhouse has great jazz all day Saturday, with free daytime to inexpensive cover charge in the evening at the Patricia Hotel in Chinatown (a lot of great Chinese food in the area).
